Anyone fitted vinyl click flooring?

  1. Hi all,

I have just fitted a new kitchen in my house and need to put down a new floor. Just wondered if anyone has used this new and improved style of laminate? its solid plastic so cant rot warp chip etc it also has a bit of flexibility so should be ideal as its going down on a suspended timber floor that will have a bit of movement in it. looking online its has quite mixed reviews just wondered if anyone has any experience with it?

I've had it done in the kitchen in mine, only negative thus far is its quite loud compared to wood laminate.

For example, if you stand one leg in the middle and drag your foot in a circle it emits far more noise than wood.

I advise against doing it, then.

I got it ... which makes me worry for you as you clearly exist in the same strange universe that I do :hattip:

They do some at B&Q if you "fancy a bit of hands-on" ... We're going to use it in an area where we'll occasionally going to have to get access to underneath ... It clicks together well and so far doesn't seem to shift about or work itself loose.

I think this is all vinyl, as opposed to the weird fibre board they use on the cheapest laminate

On a serious note, I've had it fitted in the upstairs water closet and something called the kitchen (it's where the telly machine that heats my ready meals lives).

It is genuinely quite loud when you walk on it (compared to Lino or laminate) and feels harder than wood when cold. My buddy's kids high chair has scratched his a bit, but the colour effect seems to run quite deep.

The guys that fitted it say it was easy to saw, but as its comparatively hard it's not as forgiving as wood laminate if each edge joint isn't spot on.

I bought it for rooms where it might get wet often, it doesn't absorb water, so should last longer. The manufacturer claims where it's water proof I suspect mean each sheet individually, not that it gives you some form of waterproof membrane.

Fitted it in some customers loos and bathroom.

Seems pretty hard wearing and looks nice. Nut such a permanent fix as tiles or prone to warping as laminate.

  19. iv got around 60 sq M (the whole of downstairs) to fit so I ill be fitting it myself to keep costs down. the B&Q and wicks stuff looks fine in the shop you can get it for around £17-20 per sq M. however the online reviews are really mixed. not sure if its a fault with the product or a DIY bodge.

Online you can pay upto £50 per sq M. all the reviews are great but i'm guessing if you can afford £50 a sq M then you will also be paying to have it professionally fitted.
