We've got pipework behind the slates on the roof, and pipework in the ground.
Idea is to take a bit of heat off the slates in spring and summer and dump it in the ground about two metres down under the slab.
Footings are insulated around the perimeter and the ground insulated in layers so the heat takes six months to reach the slab .... Google "AGS" (Annualised geosolar) or "interseasonal heat store" for the basic principles but this is my version specific to our location.
Only pump is the one to circulate the fluid in the pipework.
There's just a manifold to sort out, and a handful of solenoid valves but I haven't been able to give the attention it needs!
Heating engineers be what I needs!

 

i even understood most of that! i'd loove heat and water collection/storage systems.... not sure the conservation officer would though

We've been down the coast for a couple of days. It's still winter but there's bushfires already, looks like it's going to be a long,hot summer.
