My number plate (S reg) is on the engine lid - given the position of the number plate it must be more like yours I'd say it will be a late 78 or early 79 moon raker - or did they move the number plate on Sundowners then too? Afraid I have no panels or anything available, I don't stock up on stuff I don't need. Only thing I do have spare is a reverse light switch.
Yes fella!!! So glad to see another one being saved!! Good on you Ignore the nay-sayers, as has been mentioned if you bought a complete one cheaply (like I did), then you would easily be removing at least that much to get it done anyway, and to be honest I wish I'd started where you are! I have to go through all the effort of cutting the old crap off, yet someones done most of that for you.. So the way I see it you are winning! haha. Best of luck with it, and get a build thread up asap! I might have a few bits and bobs about that I dont need, I am cracking on with mine now so should know soon whether I need all of the bits I have or not. You say you already have a lot of panels and stuff, what exactly are you looking for?
Thanx dude, I need body cuts really....rear valance, offside corner (below swage line) and all the tiny bits that mount up!! Any help would be appreciated
It is a 79 moonraker, good eyes Neptune blue! It's my wife's and mine dream to go touring around Europe for a year in him so any help would be great! We know we're a fair few years away from it but it's worth doing!!
make sure you repair it well because in a years time when youve ran out of money you may be able to get a bit back selling it on this is a proper project of massive propotions you are a very brave rich man
You can have them pal , from my 79 Moonraker so it seems right Currently in the van in Wales for another 2 weeks , pm your address will post when I return.
Before you get too far into the project, have a look and see what state the chassis rails are in and check sections where the front axle beam is located, the steering box locates and sections like that. A friend of ours had a bus which needed a heavy resto, a bit like yours and got stuck into making it sound only to find out that the chassis was twisted (probably when it was transported to his garage)..needless to say he's breaking it now! Good luck, and I do hope you have a go,its a challenge mind
Thanks for the advice! My bus is weird in the fact that the chassis and all bits aren't rotten....the bottom 6 inches are solid?!
Ah, thats a shame, the only bits I'm cutting off mine are unusable.. I'll keep you posted if I find I have panels that I dont need anyway. Once I have repaired my doors I will have a spare.. (drivers side I think?)
