Hi mate - thanks for posting those pics of how the 16" wheel fits, that's very useful. I'm looking at some 16 steelies potentially for mine too. FWIW i came across this rim p/n 8D0601027A03C which is an OE vag part, 5x112 pcd, 16" like yours but only 6" wide and e42 which should be a great fit - it'll have to have the centre bore taken out like you've done with the Bora wheel but being narrower and lower offset it should sit great - web calculator thingie says it'll have only 9mm less inner clearance (vs. 25mm less inner clearance for your 7" ET45 wheel above) and its outer edge of the rim should be only 3mm further out (vs. 13mm for your bora wheel). I'll try these out at some point . Btw how are you going to mount the hubcap?
That post was dated april 7th 2014.... Today is the april 28th 2014... Three weeks/Your very quiet/no updates.. You've probably got an MOT on it by now
Thats size sounds spot on, i have picked up another 2 rims now which are 6" wide but ET50 offset, which should be a load better but until i get the centres done i won't know for sure Are you having the centres done by a engineering shop or doing them yourself? As for the cap, not really put to much thought into it, but thinking along the lines of welding some springy clip things to the wheel to start with and see how it progresses
Yeah been away for Easter in it.....no its still in the garage, life's on hold at the moment while i wait on a possible job move
Well the bus is back on the drive, thanks to @rickyrooo1 and @Moons for the extra man power Had a nose round and complied a list of metal work to get finished, looking to get cracking on Tuesday Feeling the camper love again
Managed to get a few hours in over the last couple of weeks Not got anything major done but started knocking a few jobs of the to do list Got no pics as its just boring stuff
The bus is going to have to take a bit of back seat for a couple of months now, as the turbo has just gone on the daily Should be back by Tuesday But looking at a bill around £1200
Was temped, but the bank of Mom and Dad came to the rescue, i'd just spent all my cash on 2 week holiday in the sun
Progress has been slow on the bus spent the last few days repairing sills on the old boy's Range Rover hoping to get back on the bus tomorrow
The Jetta's back and running great, as for the bus it's just the little fiddly welding jobs that i'm doing, but on the plus side i do only have the front panel left to fit Then I'm thinking sort engine conversion run it for a while while i save for the paint job
Just to let everyone know, i haven't given up on the bay, once the T25 is on the road, i'll get back on it Hopefully at a new better unit, me and a few mates are looking to rent, it will have power and lighting, so i'll be able to work in the evenings
i think we pushed it out for fun this year stu, how's the t25 going i've not been past your way in a while.
Thanks for this thread. I've struggled to find printed resources on the topic and those I've found are frustratingly short on pics and 'real' info. I've just started a resto job of my own and your experience is absolutely invaluable for me. Especially that front lower valance - mines was like a string vest after I got the deformation bulge off lat weekend and I couldn't find any info anywhere on how best to tackle it...until I came across you (not literally!). So, from a fan down here on the bottom of the world - I'm looking forward to spring in your neck of the woods and praying for your possible garage rental so I can get the rest of the story and see your bay done. Cheers.
Little bit of an update, no work, but she's been moved to her new home Loads of room to work, plus the added bonus of lights and power
