Was coming back from Wales yesterday on my own in Bob when some chaps in a blue van start flashing me and waving to pull over. They looked pretty animated so my first thought was "what fell off or am I on fire?" I quickly pulled over, ignition off, grabbed phone and jumped out. I was met my two chaps from the van who both looked like Jimmy Doherty but about 20 years old. My next thoughts were "so this is how my van gets stolen then is it?" The smaller of the two says "I'm Bob, will you sell me your camper for cash". Starting to feel very foolish I made my excuses and jumped in my van and drove off. They followed me for for about 30 mins so I drove into some houses and his for a while as I though that my follow me then try and nick my can at night. Anyway, no harm done but I just thought I would share this foolish thing I did!
Not sure the people live in the house who's drive I pulled onto knew what was happening. They may get visited again!
That's bad - I would give the police a quick call though, especially if you managed to get their licence plate. It would be good intelligence for them if this is a new ruse
Ms.T had a car pull in behind her the other night on her way home from the hospital then the car behind put on the flashing lights like the police patrol cars use here. As the hospital is in a pretty dodgy area she kept driving & headed for the police station. Surprisingly the "patrol" didn't follow her into the car park but put the lights out & shot off. According to the local inspector down there it is the latest ruse for car hijackers/robbers especially in the wee small hours of the morning.
It is actually really easy to implement - you can buy the strobe lights used by the emergency services on ebay "for off road use".
I lost them in the houses about 15 miles from home so I guess ye olde cunning worked this time. Besides my van can't be seen from from a main road as we live in a quiet village. If ever my bus was stolen there would be only 2 suspects - @rickyrooo1 and @Moons as they have been to my house lol.
Well done Mrs T. Got me thinking - if I put flashing lights and sirens on my bus and spray it white, with yellow stripes and and black checks then it's like a double bluff. Would be fakers will think I am the police and won't try to pull me over!
Yep, chased by 3 escorts up the M40 who pretended to be old bill when they pulled me over in the services. Woman smacked me in the mouth and tried to grab the keys. Got damaged legs for her troubles. Real police wholly uninteested even though I gave them 3 registration plates and descriptions etc. I was in a week or so old Golf GTi.
Similar thing happened to me on a roundabout near Farnham about 1995, just the one car, nutted the idiot and that was that. Never heard anymore afterwards
embarrassingly we got lost getting off your estate and drove round aimlessly for 1/2 hour before remembering the way....... last time i went there those new houses didn't exist and it was still all fields.........
I would but it was in 2002! I called them several times and had 3 appointments for them to come around. They never did so I gave up. A drivers door on a Golf makes a great noise when it meets 2 legs at high speed!
Has anyone lately had or got anything positive to say about the Police, What do they actually do these days Coz all I ever see or hear is negative stuff and that's from normal law abiding citizens not crims
