Does anyone have any experience of buying deformation panels and are these two much of a muchness? http://m.vwheritage.com/productDetails.cfm?iItemID=84033 http://www.justkampers.com/vw-t2-ba...71-deformation-panel-vw-t2-bay-1973-1979.html They both say genuine and there's only the difference in postage between them.
I got one last year, same but from coolair. Good fit, just need to weld in captive nuts in the correct place for your bumper .
If I remember it did have captive nuts but they're for Brazzaville bumpers so in the wrong place if you've got original bumpers
Ahh! So when they say it will fit a '74 van they're being creative with the truth. Prices so far Heritage £105, JK £105 , Coolair £104.50. Price fixing perhaps.
Last time I did one, I found the repro one was slightly better pressed than the vw brazil one. Either way you have to weld the captive nuts in horizontally as they come vertically for brazilian bumpers.
nope! pm @bigrich he'll tell you the difference between the repro and genuine ones! he's fairly honest for a cockerny!
Ok, will do. I'm ordering one from somewhere tomorrow. Dog just remind me again Bigrich is which company?
I fitted the vw original one from JK Fit was sound, the captive nuts used for the Brazilian type bumpers weren't the best so replaced them (wanted to keep by bumper options open) and added the ones for the original square bumpers , which i now think i have put in the wrong place
Only reason I suggested Schofields is that mine came from there and the fit was great. It was also a genuine VW part.
All ideas gratefully accepted old bean. It's one of TLB's strong points, getting other people's input. I'm going to phone Bigrich in the morning and order one.
