Hi all. My brakes work great when using the foot pedal but on the handbrake the lever is nearly all the way out before holding the brakes. Can someone please advise the best way to adjust the handbrake. Thanks
Hi, I will have a look and adjust the rear brakes. They seem ok though. I have had a look underneath and am I right in saying I can adjust the handbrake by tightening the two nuts on the y section of the cable. Thanks
Yes, but as above, you need to adjust the shoes up to the drum first or you'll have a lot of pedal travel. The handbrake adjuster just takes the slack out of the cable. Six clicks is the right adjustmet.
What they said, your rear shoes need adjusting. After adjusting them, the handbrake should right itself. You shouldn't need to adjust the handbrake cable after installation and initial adjustment.
Thanks for the info. I will adjust the rear brakes next weekend and then have a look at handbrake. My handbrake at the moment is about 27 clicks out until hand brake is on. Seems quite a lot.
That is a lot of clicks, perhaps you should whip the drums off and have a look at the shoes before you adjust.
That's what I was thinking. I've only had the vehicle a few weeks so it will also give me the opportunity to have a look and see how good/bad they are. Thanks
Ahh a bit far for me to pop over and take a look Another slightly strange question your not called nigel or have a son called nigel?
