I want to start off with my little slip up,i was cutting some metal out of my panelvan when the grinder flicked up and got caught up in my t shirt,it proceeded to wind itself in towards my chest and OUCH!!!!
No pics but ive had cuts burns and broken bones The most scary was when i dropped the grinder whilst under a car on axle stands with no wheels fitted I was using a grinder with a knotted wire brush and it snagged and jumped out of my hands It didnt hit me but danced accross the floor and pulled and axle stand out from under the car and the car dropped on me The grinder pulled the plug out of the extension lead and stopped leaving me hardly being able to breath and lay in complete silence It was about 3 am and i was in the workshop alone My mobile phone was just out of reach of my feet and it took an age to manage to scrape and drag it towards me I phoned the wife tried to explain and she had to come quick My wife arrived in a stinking mood cos id dragged her out of bed After a very strange how to use a trolley jack lesson for the wife whilst i thought i was going to die by suffication She said right i think you best get to bed and walked off It took about an hour before i could breath reasonably well again
Im sure they can i walked away with no injurys just a dent to my pride and a *******ed off mrs I had a mate at work that lost two fingers whilst feeling for a hydraulic leak behind an aircraft panel during walk around checks It was that clean of a cut he didnt know it had happend untill he removed his hand and saw it
By request I've got to chip in, and a quick warning, this will make you go A grinder with a cutting disc again, kicked back into my face I'm back to being a sexy mofo now though, and was lucky its healed really to the point most people dont notice it.
If what had happend to kruger happend to me i would have never done a resto again im sure I would however be weaving some awesome baskets by now
Cheers, by all accounts I was very lucky that the cut almost follows my lip line, so the scarring is minimal. Only other resto injuries I think I've had is the usual finger cuts, arc eye, crud in eyes, welding sunburn, and hot molten rocks that burn through your jeans and socks etc
We dont stop playing because we get old we get old because we stop playing When its your time its your time dude
Don't have a pic of the cut, but I nicked my wrist with the grinder and go to the clinic to get bits of cutting disc dug out of the wound with tweezers.
lucky I only cut my hand when i was at work needed 6 stitches, hopefully i'll get another a vw out of the compo.
Not gory and nothing at all to see, but...18 months ago when I first got this van I was putting my red9 coliovers on the beam and in a tight spot had to pull a breaker bar upwards to lossen a nut rather than lean down on it. Something in my upper arm pinged (no other word for it) and my arm locked solid. It eased off after a few hours but left me with an upper arm pain and a weakness which got worse over the year. Finally went to the GP, then a scan and the Supra "something or other" has torn off my left Rotator cuff in the shoulder. Physio now and surgery to stitch it back on when the other muscle around it are strong enough!! Still shiver when I see Kruger's photos.....
Bl***y Hell. These all beat my punching myself in the eye after slipping with a spanner under the engine hands down.Glad you have all survived to grind another day.
I learnt not to weld in bare feet, those little sparky bits make you hop. According to the eye witnesses I was dancing around like a demented highlander doing a free form highland reel.
