As long as you manage bamboo it'll produce a decent amount of bamboo canes to use elsewhere. Better still, grow bamboo in large pots and crop the dead/yellow cains to use. I've got dozens of bamboo canes that now support other climbing plants, tomatoes etc.
First wall up last night! Just Max and I managed to lift the 6m wall. First up onto a few chocks of wood then onto a bundle of the 50mm insulation before lifting it straight up. Getting that first wall up really does start to give me a feel for the space now.
We did manage to get rid of a bamboo plant once. Our side of the fence we had roaming pet rabbits, the neighbours used a lawnmower on the shoots. Rabbits seem to really go for bamboo shoots.
The Bamboo i mentioned with the JCB ...the plant had been growing for 20 years and let loose to its roaming . I tried grubbing it out with a mini digger useless . Called on a friend with a big JCB and that got it out but in massive clumps nearly 3 ft deep and carted off in a dumper and put on the top of an enormous fire and roasted it . The couple wanted it out as they were having an extension ..as you say rabbits will constantly nibble the new shoots even better a giant panda . That said they will never kill them soon as they are left Zooom .
I think you can go up to 15sqm and below 2.5mtrs high from the highest point in your garden and it falls under "Permitted Development". Anything larger usually requires planning and building control. I think its supposed to be a minimum of 1mtr from a boundary unless its constructed out of a fire proof material (but different councils have different rules and regulations). That's why when I built mine, it's come out at 14.93sqm and 2.45mtrs high!! And yes, it's closer than 1mtr from the fence!!
It used to be, IIRC 4.2m for a pitched roof, I had to sink my foundation in to squeak under with a reclaimed summerhouse.
