I don’t usually stop in Chirk but I turned down through Chirk on the way back down the A5 just to look for a some pub grub. Usually camp or stop in the Victoria at Llanberris if I’m up Snowdon but I came home instead today!
We used to call that a counter lunch. Looks good grub bud. Ozziedog,,,,,,, On a woody plate no less,,,, how posh.
I’ve just had for my lunch a Bistro fish pie (Asdas good stuff) and jolly nice it was too. I picked it up on my way out of the store yesterday as it was in the reduced section on its last days and just under two quid. They’re six quid normally . Reckon I’d buy one full price if I was hungry and shopping for my dinner/ teas they’re that nice. It’s supposed to be for two but I’d need a pan full of chips to go with it if I had to share with Mrs Ozziedog. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, got a good appetite me
Why the ***** do places serve up food on wooden boards etc What’s wrong with a good old civilised plate? Last time I was in the lakes we went for a pub lunch and they served it on a piece of slate
Had the same on the Isle of Wight what made it worse there was a big pile of them round the back as the pub had a new slate roof and these were the old ones.
I’d ordered steak pie and chips When I asked the waitress if it was a pie n a pot with a pastry lid or a proper pie she was really pleased to tell me it was a large slice of proper pie and it’s served with gravy She was true to her word and the pie came out as a slice and a decent amount of gravy in a jug. She was really puzzled when I asked for a plate so the gravy didn’t spill on to the table. She said it’s ok we just wipe it up afterwards Don’t get me started with the 5 chips in a mini shopping trolley that pubs do
