1st to second is my zen at mo - get a huge smile when it slips in without gears grinding or bus going into reverse ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve got the hill part already just taking my “bus” into Forest of Dean ! As for rust , got a MGB 66 roadster so well into rust ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When you're ready take a look at the various bushes and linkage bits in your gear column, there's plenty of advice to be had on here, tho, to be honest it ain't great, even when it's working properly... As a friend said, driving a Bay long distance is a bit like trying to drive a sponge
Hello and welcome! Nice looking westy. You’ll get the hang of the gears, although a nice fresh bush at the front (snigger. sorry!) and a well positioned selector plate will make things much easier.
Look on the bright side, if you cannot find second then it will be virtually new when discovered liberated ! Enjoy the experience .

That suggests your actual gear stick could do with a bit of love and adjustment. Haynes 108/110...your first purchase followed by Bentley
WElcome from West Lancashire - 73 Westy here plus 60 MGA. Mine had an EMPI gear stick when I got it and likewise 2nd gear was difficult to find and fingers hit handbrake going into 1st - but fitted a CSP gear stick which is much better - 1st to 2nd is OK now and can get 3rd to 2nd most of the time (I now go 3rd into neutral - feint up to 1st then surprise it by dropping into 2nd instead!!
Cant you say anything more than "Hello" ? We have an introduction section, why not post up a little bit about your bus, what adventures you have been on and post a few pictures up. We don't bite
