Morning all.. Painting the front beam.. Which is better.. Hammerite or rustoleum? any input is welcomed Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
I spent a month making that same decision! In the end, right across this forum and many others, Rust-oleum was the recommended paint I’m also putting Bonda primer first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In these Lockdown times, it might just be Dulux....but at least it will be prepared for when we can go shopping again...
I got my tin from https://www.rawlinspaints.com. Very good price & service. Recently got an email from them saying they were still open for business. A few days ago but might worth checking out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have some ral 7035 pale grey which I plan to do the van in.. But is that too light? Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
I painted my beam with tractor enamel Rustoleum combi color is pretty much the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rustoleum or any enamel equivalent is probably best. As above, Hammerite will work, but it will react with any kind of paint you decide to put over it later. God only knows what's in it. I painted my beam with black EpoxyMastic, as I was doing the front arches at the same time. Tough stuff.
I used a paint that was 2 pac with a built in rust killer what i had left i gave to @davidoft he may still have it? It stinks for days but its brilliant
Epoxy mastic on ours. It did get a shiny top coat, not that you can see any of it under all the under body wax that’d under the bus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would prefer to use a 2K paint, it will hold much better than hammerite or rustoleum. Those are good for a fence, but will not hold weld against gravels, salt, mud etc. Epoxy or polyurethane, whatever brand your autopart store carry. I like this http://www.libertpaints.com/ A LVLP spray gun works well with smaller aircompressor if you plan to spray it ;-)
