The CSP plug for the sender has the same thread length as the standard plug and the spring tension remains the same. Oil flow isn’t particularly good but it worked for me for the last few years and I only changed the position of the sender into sump because I was changing the crankcase and could drill and tap it easily.
Not sure what the gauge is, but it'll handle anything you attach down the back. Halfords will sell you some.
Or any caravan place will have trailer cable. I made up a separate loom and used cable with VW Golf colour codes for the temperature and pressure gauges and ran this alongside the original loom under the bus.
On one occasion when it all got too hot and really messy, the electronic sender started indicating negative pressure, it whacked past zero at about 2000 rpm. In the real world I think it was maybe a smidge above zero at idle. So I held the pedal down so the oil pressure indicated positive and after a minute the oil temperature dropped and the pressure went sensible again. Trust me to buy a pressure sender rated to 120 degrees C. That was when I re installed the stock pressure switch and put the electronic sender on an extension piece so it didnt get so hot.
Perhaps I should have said standard German motor industry colours and as I was buying cable I might just as well buy the correct colour. I used water temp colour codes for the CHT but the oil temp and pressure are standard. And I used a redundant cable from the diagnostic plug for the rev counter (from an MGB) so that isn’t a standard colour but it should be relatively easy for anyone to see which cable does what. I used trailer cable for, well, the trailer socket.
Or like i did get some split conduit and five or six lengths of 1mm cable of different colours from one of the auto electrcal suppliers on ebay, and make your own front to rear accessories loom. As 77 Westy says just cable tie it along the route of the original loom under the bus. It’s handy to have a couple of the cables spare, you will as i did find a use for them.
this may sound obsessive, or just plain bazaar, but I have an air temperature and air pressure gauge to fit to the T1 shroud on top of the T4 engine. Unfortunately the pressure gauge is PSI, but the temp gauge is Celsius , photos to follow.
Heart rate monitor is also desirable for when she starts loosing power uphill & the needles on those nice gauges go into the red
iPhone if needed. I was seriously.......... considering installing my old iPad at a later date, i think this may be off topic for some...
Ok I have CHT x2 , RPM , MAP , AFR, Oil Pressure, Batt voltage x2 Most use is AFR and CHT2 which is the offside head which is slightly hotter.
