Agree with above. 5kW would be to much in a bay
On low you'd be ok running it at night although if the exhaust is pointing at a tent close by they might not be too happy

  3. Cheers guys, I’ll have a look for a cheap 2kw model.

  4. They tend to get full of soot and throw up error codes when ticking over as it would if you put a 5kw in a bay, as other say get a 2kw so it'll run harder and stay cleaner.

That’s the one I’m looking at to go in my beetle. Just haven’t had the balls to do it yet. The before and after photos are funny and the camper dash on fire is a bit weird.

Some of them have an lcd controller but this has a “knob switch”.
    Probably a bit more reriable.

  9. I'm wondering where would be best for the tank. In the engine bay seems a bit of a fire risk and tricky to fill without spilling some diesel and inside the cabin would have the same fill issues but with the added risk of stinking the place out!

  10. Regarding the tank ...... just thinking outside the box
If for example you have an external spare wheel carrier, could someone make a round Jerry can that fitted snug within the inside of the spare wheel rim. Then the problem is solved

  11. I love that idea... except my spare wheel is at the front, possibly not the ideal place to store 10L of diesel if I was unlucky enough to crash.

There again, if every vehicle was like that it might get rid of the bad drivers quite quickly! :)

  12. It's diesel there's no fire risk I'd be more worried about fuel pipes and electrics ;)

  13. Just another quick question before biting the bullet:
Do you get caught for import duty and vat? If so, how much? Cos that could take the edge of the cheap prices :-(

  14. Yes fuel pipes used to be an issue.
    It was a family ‘joke’
    “Can you smell petrol?”
We’d stop, I’d tighten up the offending jubilee clip and off we’d go again.

All pipes replaced now and correct hose clamps used. Boring but safe!
