Thanks for your advice and welcome everyone. I will have a look at the fuel line and roof. I am not sure if carbs or fuel injected, as I say total beginner, how do I tell? As for filter and brake lines. Is this easy? Thanks for bearing with my ignorance.
Not at the moment, will put one up once van back. Welder is not a specialist (budget won't stretch), so engine not coming out, so I will have to work with it in.
Fuel gauge not working is not unusual, by the way. It's a huge faff involving removal of the engine to get at the sender in the fuel tank which is where the problem often lies. Don't be daunted by all this and enjoy your bus. Some of us drive around with visible rust and non-working fuel gauges but have lots of fun.
Hello from sunny Chester, where are you ?.someone local would be willing to have a bit of a look around your bus and give a few pointers
Welcome from slushy brentford. The best thing I ever did was buy the book by Muir. It's called 'keeping your vw alive. A guide for the complete idiot'. Most of us on here own it and I know it's given me such a great education and has got me moving again when stuck on the side of the rd many times. It's a joy working and learning with your bus. A series of ups a downs but so rewarding on the whole and in so many different ways! Best of luck.
For bodywork type stuff I use Peel's Motorkraft. Mechanicals I use Flat Martin at Bristol Cherished Cars. Both highly recommended
Thanks. Certainly need to find the right mechanics so this helps, especially like the fact they show prices.
