Aren't you a lucky boy to have so much vastness then! If you should ever get from one end of the emporium to the other, finding a working thermo valve thingie on the way, I will bring bacon sandwiches, biscuits, 0range Fanta, and cash.
Finally seem to have found time to phone the local VW Dealership.... you're both right - they can have one for me on Wednesday. And yes, it's pricey (£58.79) but if it's going to help my van get going in the cold then I'll take it. Funnily, the spring clip and the foamy gasket are both a little rarer - special order from Germany.
Ah cheers. I'll give their parts dept a call on Monday when they're open again, as the part number draws a blank on the website for some reason.
I’ve not had any luck getting a used original; most eBay sellers either ignore my question or say they don’t know. The one bloke who bothered to find out came back with a ‘non functioning’ report. If it does the trick, it’ll be worth it.... let’s face it, very few things for these bloody vehicles are cheap, so it’s no surprise. The only one of the usual online suppliers that even lists it was VWH and it’s been out of stock for ages (and would be even more expensive if they did have it!) Hey ho.
Well, let’s see whether this makes a difference then...... Easily obtained from my local VW parts department. Someone tell me why I didn’t ask there earlier??
'Tis cold and dark out there.... Sunday's the day for dismantling oil baths, me thinks. Oh the suspense......
booooo, i fitted a new rear windscreen wiper motor on a mk4 golf today, did it quick cos of the cold (10 mins)
I actually had to google that! Thought maybe it was an as yet undiscovered secret storage area in a late bay
