Im a racing snake personally so benefit greatly from the full widther! It does limit your storage quite significantly though. If i ever do it again i think i will go 3/4 with a side cupboard up to seat hight i can have a seperate mattressmfor to make it up to full width. Will only need that when im with the trouble.
started putting my full width together yesterday from a pair of hinges i bought on here 2nd hand. I have already snapped both the springs on the little catch lol what a pain in the horse. But i must say, all this talk of the supports getting in the way, its just life in a campervan. Get used to it, its a 60 second max problem once/twice a day and only when camping. And as for rusty lee or bluebirds beds, they are just an unnecessary spend when Westfalia never needed a huge steel frame, although they look the part. I like a clunky bed. Its more fun. I will probably eat my words when it breaks. As for taking the fuel tank out, that made me feel sick. What a needles palava for a bed fitting lol. Just make a bracket, and fix it lower down or fix it through the floor at either side. There are plenty of alternatives. And if you have the skill to get the engine and tank out, then you must have the skill to make a bracket!
I can't imagine a bed that required the engine and fuel tank to be removed to fit would achieve any sales at all. Not a great selling point is it?
Hmmmmm well I think mine is based on westy hinges, and it's problems may well just stem from bad construction, so you are very welcome to have a gander at it come April Techenders
Have you considered a riviera type bed? You only have to screw the hinges to the cargo floor and you can make the bed any width you like by using narrower or wider boards I'll get you a pic of mine when I get to the laptop at home
I like em but bad for storage. You can have just a single with these if your on your lonesome and still have a seat at the same time!!!
I do get it, but I wasn't prepared to pay an over inflated price for a 30 odd year old tatt interior just to get a westy bed Like I mentioned before I had a r&r hinged bed in my bus when I bought it, the hinges are collecting dust in my garage somewhere and I would never go back to it. I don't get is why people seem to slag off rusty beds when they are great solid beds at a good price. I don't find it difficult or awkward to open/close a rusty bed. I can only guess you had them set up wrong or just complete pussys, I'm thinking 2nd
Or 2x herniated discs. If I put away a bed like yours it's kiss goodbye to the weekend. I think it's worth a mention for other back sufferers to pick up on. I'm not "slagging" rusty lee beds, they're well made and good value.
Don't really drink that much, it's like working at yer mates house I help you, you feed and water me milk chocolate hobnobs and maybe lunch If we work at that time lemon fanta
I'm just a boy compared to Zed but I find the lean over and drag it into submission technique far from easy, Westy bed one hand wait for click 1 second job, Westy suits people with a little finesse
Oh well I suppose if you don't do gandering I'll just have to accept solutions I'll bring lemon Fanta and hob nobs!
