I want to go home and work on my van. Unfortunately the former funds the latter so im stuck to battling it out against the elements in the evening and then apparently im being antisocial. As for weekends they are always filled with unexpected "treats" that eat up my time. Every year I put things off until the weather improves and every year it feels as though I've missed most of the summer! Rant over. Im off for a brew and to see if there are any biscuits lying around unattended!
Me too! I'm office based again with no idea whats coming up next, for the first time in over 12 years. This is my second week back and so far I have had nothing to do at all. Tell a lie; I have had to do timesheets both weeks... To say it is frustrating is a massive understatement.
Oh its that January feeling. I'm exactly the same!!! Does this relate to the Bosses Snooping thread. All I find myself doing is searching the web and looking on TLB. But hey, look on the bright side if my client wants to pay for me sitting around looking a Late Bay all day, fair game... Ooops, boss is coming, better minimise the page!!
Working outside at the moment is bad ,Wet Windy Freezing I feel like a Russian Kolack consigned to a Siberian labour camp . Yes iam afraid it's as bad as that . Then when spring and summer come along you forget all about it , and everyone say's oooh it must be lovely to work outside . Oh well must be off down to see the nurse down at the surgery to have my frost bite dressing changed .
I don't mind doing work, its "working" for a living I don't like. I cant imagine not being busy, hopefully in a productive way, but something possibly for me!
Know what you mean... The more time off I get to work on the bus, the more I spend on bits, the more I have to work. Bit of a catch 22. Even when I do get the time I feel like I'm neglecting my family if I choose to work on the bus instead of taking the kids to the park. Life, eh?
I've had enough of my job too.. Dodgy shift pattern, finishing late ,starting early, working weekends, bank holidays, Christmas and New year. I cannot get my holidays when I want them and almost never with my wife (she works at the same place/different department) Job security has gone down the pan, we used to have 341 hours a week allocated to our department and now it's down to 152..That's a huge drop but the boss still expects us to get the job done, it's getting harder all the time. By the time I get home I'm too tired to do the things I want to do. Sorry, that's my rant over. It's not about the money, it's about quality of life, being happy with what you do. For me, it's time for a change. I have made my mind up that I will not be working for my present employer for very much longer. To those of you that have broken away and are doing the things you want to do. I look forward to joining you
My boss is a miserable, moaning tightwad. I hate him...long hours, poor conditions.... He's been sleeping with my wife too! Funny old lark being self employed...
I've had a nice break and done loads of jobs/van/house etc ,the sun is out and I am back to work this afty ,I am a bit glad I have no family comittements and my spare time is mine... When taking on a resto or hobby make sure you do not have kids or they are old enough to look after themselves ...
This is why I always have the second week of the new year skiing (boarding) in the Alps. Gives me something to look forward to!
