Where are you based? I am going to need someone in southeast to either do the gas install once I have finished fitting my propex or at least certify it if I do it myself!
I'm in Bromley. The company I'm using is mobile and covers the southeast. Will let you know how I get on.
what have they quoted you? someone else on here had a compnay do an install for them and was charged about 250 quid!! and it wasnt even that well done IMO
To be honest, we've not even discussed prices yet. Only just provisionally book them in to come over and take a look. Should probably get a ROUGH idea of a cost I guess.....
Excellent thread. Really fascinating watching the way thelatebay forum is so helpful to us all as we lovingly tend to our busses.
Yeh. I nearly bought the parts a few months back. I guess it's only some copper pipe and a splitter/taps. Plus probably an hours work, if that!
Ha ha.... No, no twin and earth involved. Some twin flat flex. Its all going though. Proper Manifold for the gas etc. Im impressed that you lot seem to think that leaking gas joints are the norm. As for 12 volt near a mains plug. Not sure what your issue is there but nonetheless that will be going too. Its all prototyping, and in the wrong place. Remind me of all this when i wake up dead. Oh and btw go and check your meter box, gas, water, electric, mains, bell transformers, plug in transformers for your rechargeable torches... Etc etc. You worry too much.
They are not in a vibrating small tin box though. My gas was nowhere near my mains when i had a house, though sure that was just luck. You are right, they shouldn't leak though! Incidentally I have my gas bottle and 12v fuses in the same cupboard so I can't talk. That reminds me, I must add a gas fall-out. And the sound damping duct for me would be inside the van - easy - if you get some do let me know if it works.
No gas drop out!, you will die horribly. Im not getting any of that duct as my ducts are too short for it to matter. Right, im off to fill my camping gaz bottles up with propane.
Im thinking one of these would be good. I like quarter turns that you can see at a glance whether they are on or off then run seperate legs out in 8 mm to: Cooker Fridge Heater Plug in gas point
Im wondering whether to go down the refillable route now myself so not sure what to do. No point fitting one until the underneath is sorted unless i fit one inside but that defeats the object.
when youve fitted jubilee clips to flexible gas hoses under fire you stop worrying about the gas. ( im told)
and the biggest fire risk I've seen in a domestic rewire (done by a Niceec professional) was all the old T & E taped up and scrunched into bundles, still live, connected via old junction boxes, covered in dust and woodshavings they'd created doing the rewire....
