I'm guessing thats the culprit without stripping it. If it was upgraded then can you tell me if any of the gallery dump valves had stronger springs?.. Viscosity and the cold makes a big difference when youre forcing a huge amount of oil through a cooler with a stock pump and weak OPR valves.
i think they are standard springs. its not a standard pump as it has a differant front cover on it but dont know what size the pump is. it has been like this for the last few years without any problems. i added the filter and thermostatic valve as when i bought the bus it just had a loop out to cooler and then back into block..
Does pump have a take-off? I've seen the "pellet" that's used to block the oilway rattle about until it's small enough to drop back and jam/smash the pump.
as I say drilled block with oil fitting into the case bottom oil gallery out to thermostatic valve and filter and from there to the cooler and then back to the block into the top oil gallery next to dizzy drive.
no zed its plumbed similar to yours, out at the bottom gallery and back to the top gallery by dizzy drive. as pic above..
I was going to post big-ends, but as the harbinger of doom around here and it being almost Christmas... Is there oil in it?
there was plenty in when checked last sunday and no oil light flickering so it must still be in there...........somewhere. good job im getting tom wilsons book on building engines for Christmas. bit late to ask for a new engine..
thanks for the offer but I have a lawnmower in the back so it may not fit the same.........................or would it.
and several knocks to ones head later We did the swap fairly easily, old motor and box out in one, same with the other back in, engine mounts lined up perfectly, the only struggle was one bolt on the left hand gearbox hanger at the top
The problem is your old tin, alternator, fan, exhaust system, carb, manifold etc become useless and have to be replaced too. Of course it'll fit otherwise!
914 engine comes as turnkey with all time wear etc, fully sorted and currently in a bay so can be driven before swap, I have a buyer for the bay minus engine
Cheers will keep it in mind and will have to look at the engine to find out what the problem is first. . what are you looking at for it. ..
had a spare hour when I came in tonight. this is what I found. starting to strip parts off but not much spare time to do it....
