No a switching ECU would give me the 250 hp for normal driving and up to 310hp for 'silliness'. Whereas a boost switch would only give 250 when on and something horrible to drive with less power when off.
The 1600 Escort made a measly 132hp and the 2.0l only 180hp. We're talking 50% more output from a Motor built just a few years later in the mid 90's. Everything has to be spot on.
I can't imagine it'll be slow, even if I only opt for 250hp. That's over 5 TIMES more than it had when it left Germany.
Made up the rads this evening. I've used one new rad (below) and the original cleaned up, quite frankly you can barely tell. These are universal rallye fan kits. Aluminium frame rubber mounted to rads. Rad will also be similarly rubber mounted into chassis. Stainless fittings. The finished article x 2. A pair of these will be mounted side by side in the chassis void, no calcs done but DOUBLE the original plus fans should make up for the lack of wind from not being at the front. This may look like "a money being thrown at it" project but it's not, all the rads, fans etc comes to only £90.
Looking great I take it those stainless fastners just pass through the alloy to a nut on the other side and non actually thread into the alloy itself?
Bugger! Spoke to a Scooby expert who says I have TOO MUCH cooling, the ECU won't like it. Back to a single rad then but at least I have a spare. Cut a big hole in Bill today, it will be a luxury when I get the hatch in, both Ted and Freddie don't have them.
I really really hope to see Bill out on the 402 track some day. There's no doubt he would be one of the fastest dokas on the usb list.
