That’s exactly what I said. My mate thought the best one was the predecessor the EJ but maybe that’s because he had one. Funnily enough I had another mate that thought the FC was top car ever but then again he had one of them with the older grey motor. But top fun indeed. I’d love to do it all over again. Maybe I’d be a bit more serious about it if I had a second time around.:)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, but I doubt it very much:)

That was my very first tool box and my very first spanner set. It was all A.F. Originally and had a set of sockets around the box with extensions and wobblers and plug sockets etc. Had a set of double ended cranked rings and a set of double open enders in the lid. You can still see my original 3/8 ratchet in there too. I bought these and my mate got them trade for me from a rep to the car spares place that he worked at. I guess I was sixteen or maybe seventeen when I got them. So quite a while back and just over fifty years ago.

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,Sidchrome lasted well.:)

I've got the same set as the top photo and it's in about the same condition.

I think the only thing that’s in there from the original stuff is the ratchet because everything was A.F. But I do like keeping the ratchet in there. When I’ve got absolutely nothing else to do or just do want to do anything, I’ve been known to take that ratchet apart and give him a bit of a clean and repack inside then pop him back together and plonk him back in his box with his new mates the M.M. Militia.

  6. 1964 Ford Anglia 105e that took me all over the country and my first year as an undergraduate. Bought for £100 December 1980, kept for 18 months then sold it for £170 when I bought a mk1 Escort 1100 for £100. The Anglia ate two clutches and munched its way through numerous crossply retreads (£4.95 a time). Slow as ersosion, no sync on first and it was iffy on second so needed double-de clutching. Stiff and noisy steering. I'd have another in a heartbeat...
