Your ideas on warnings etc

personally i think bullying, racism, homophobia etc should be immediate bans as they are also illegal and any evidence of such should be kept by the mods in case of legal action. Just my thoughts.
t'other stuff, not entirely sure what it is, except swearing and i can't make a call on that as i have a bit of a potty mouth at times :/

 

To give this some context:

With this system we are able to assign a score to warnings and if applicable an expiry period.

So swearing might get 1 point with an expiry of 1 week.

Abuse might get 5 points with an expiry of 2 months.

Then we can assign measures based on the number of unexpired points.

So for example, a user may get 9 active points which would result in a 3 month ban.

Does that make sense?

 

Case by case basis, But personally I don't think any of this is needed, Is all that's required is a little self moderation, and for people to grow up.

Its a forum, its not even real life don't cha know.

Nuff said.

 

If you ban me for 3 months from totting up my **** slippages I don't think I'd come back again.

 

but it wont be like that, the idea is that the users that occasionally break the rules will get warnings that expire before they tot up too many points, only the persistent ones will get a ban!

 

Re swearing. The filter should pick these up. So you should only get warnings if you deliberately bypass it somehow.

Agree we are all grown adults
I realy cant see the point in points system.
However I do agree with gross misconduct being an immediate ban.
As for a couple of swears I think that the mods can easily "Sheriff" this.

i agree. personally, if i got banned for dropping the odd b*****k hen i would probably take massive umbrage and not come back.

i like the points/time thingy but i know i'd be in danger as i type as i speak with often a more than liberal dose of invectives (depending on subject matter). can i apologise now?

i like the filter, it makes me laugh. keep it but just give a naughty point to one who is clever enough to get round it (that'll never be me!)
