Just received a "best quality" fuel pump from Machine7 via eBay item 111790586390 The lower nozzle (to the carb) is orientated correctly, but there's insufficient range of adjustment to allow the upper nozzle to point correctly. The upper casing cannot rotate the necessary 30 degrees or so clockwise because of the protrusion from the lower casing. Machine7 suggest I find some other way to route the fuel from the tank to the pump! Strewth! I'm loathe to grind off part of the "protusion" which would rectify the problem, because this would mean I couldn't return the pump if it didn't work for some other reason. Needless to say, I'm not best pleased! EDIT Just managed to upload a piccy ----
The nozzle almost touches the distributor cap! There is no space to attach the hose. The top of the pump needs to be rotated about 30 degrees clockwise but can't do so because of the protrusion.
See what you mean. Can you not swing the base part with the screws around? Failing that...just get a Brosol? Mine's worked fine for years.
Mech both supply and discharge go out in same plane one above the other and should go round back of dizzy , so I’d go for a swap pump ? just make sure you get correct length rod . If you look on jk site they show the three different types .
The base will only rotate in 72 degree increments, too much for the lower nozzle to point correctly. Should I grind off the part of the lower casing preventing full rotation of the upper casing??
I'd say...no. Send it back. The boggo Brosol type are fine. You don't actually need to dismantle it the future.
I've asked them for a full refund, PLUS my return postage as this error is down to them. The pump won't fit a VW Bay!!! An hour or so of wasted time this morning!
