Would it be a fuse problem?

  1. Both side lights, my off side tail light and number plate light are out, seems a bit weird to be all bulbs so is a fuse that controls them if so please can someone tell me which one it is please? its 2.0 1978 auto ( also my auto box light is out to show which gear you're in if that's linked at all?

thanks in advance, MOT retest depends on it lol
    thanks

  2. fuse no 2 (L to R) should be for right tail light and license plate...I suspect it's an earth issue....look at the sides of the engine compartment near the light housings.....give any brown wires you see a wiggle

there are a couple of variations for fuse box layout, depending on year/model/US/Euro spec, so I could be wrong

  4. cheers for this! it helped me diagnose which fuse I needed to change, the fuse number 2, an 8amp fuse controls the lights that were out, however, after changing in, then driving for a bit, then turning it off and on again, the lights were out again, and the fuse had blown!!

Now, I noticed that I think my nearside front side light buld may be out, would this be surging too much power to the rest on the fuse and blow the fuse as a result?

    cheers

  5. As Vanorak says fuse no 2 serves right rear and number plate lights but also both of the front side lights.
When I reassembled after painting last year I kept blowing the fuse just like you. For me the fault was in the front lights. It's quite easy in dim light to reverse the polarity of the wires causing a short to earth
