Won't start - not turning over at all

  1. Hi guys - just got back to Liverpool from weekend in the Lakes - Bodhi ran like a dream although this morning when i tried to start him it was dead the first couple of attempts then sprang into life. When i got home i stopped outside the house. Moved the other car to make space on the drive and then Bodhi wouldnt start. Nothing. When i turn the key i get the two red lights - oil and battery or bulb is it? But it doesnt turn over at all. The battery is fine. Could it be anything to do with all the rain overnight? I've just done a 2hr trip in him though today and a 2hr yesterday. Help please?

  2. i think it might be the starter motor. I have tried putting it in gear and rocking it to see if it'll free it up. No sucess yet though. If i try and start it with my headlights on they go out then come back on when i turn the ignition. Still no sigh of life though.

  3. The ignition switch plastic thingy might be broke. Happened to me. Checked battery, fine, checked starter, fine....hmmm...checked ignition switch and sometimes it caught, sometimes it didnt. Bloody pain to swap over though. Good luck. :)

  4. Is it hard to start when hot, could be in need of a hot start relay if it is.

If not, I'd go through the ignition circuit and possibly get under the van and see if the starter clicks when someone else try's to start the van.

  5. make sure van is in neutral and handbrake on, get some one you trust to try starting van with foot on clutch ( just being double safe here )you need to be under the van and tap starter motor with hammer or other similar object, if it starts ok its prob sticky solinoid.

  6. Hard to get under the van as its been lowered. Will try tomorrow though. Need to find the starter motor! I sort of know roughly where it is.

    Nice one

May need a bit more attention for a permanent fix.
