not to far.. we were always close. Both vans were being restored in tandem :) I have definitely taken inspiration from your build .. I threw my toys out the pram a while back so my build up thread has gone .. but its incredible how much reference there is on other folks build threads.. Seeing your not toughing it out on your own helps a lot :) Your not far away now either .. Keep up the good work. I was chuffed to drive mine for the first time since I coaxed it onto the trailer nearly 8 years ago.. prior to that it st at the side of the POs house for 15 years ... Its amazing what can be saved with a bit of stubborn determination :)

  16. I've been watching your interior work as i need to replace some piping on the seats on my bug.
Some of the professional seat covers don't look as neat as yours.

  17. Try it:thumbsup: it's not hard to do I've never done it before there's some good YouTube vids ;)that show you. there's one on showing how to do what you want repair the piping :thinking:All you need to do is remove the cover then cut the stitching and replace the bit you want then sew it back together :)

  18. Sounds simple when you say it like that.

my Mrs started our with the same doubts! a few vids, a few blogs and me massaging her ego...

one thing I've spotted on youtube more lately is a machine that "skivs" (a skiving machine, if you will). It compresses the seam allowance so when you're doing piping you don't have to contend with the thickness of 4 bits of fabric... not cheap mind. It's ultimate use is for flat French seams... and I am a big fan of French seams!!
