Does anyone know if any other classic wiper arms will fit a bay, The reason I ask is mine is an Ozzy bay so the arms are RHD, I want stainless ones, the over priced OZ only offerings from the usual suspects are black painted items.
    Cheers

  2. Mk1 Golf arms fit , I have them on mine which is LHD but I'm sure there'll be a thriving accessory market for Mk1 stuff and everyone loves stainless

Are Aus wiper arms different from other RHD wiper arms ?

My bus is from South Africa - so also RHD - built from a German CKD kit.

I got some really nice stainless wiper arms from Custom & Commercial.

  4. Aussie busses have the wiper arms in the correct position for RHD, I believe. German made RHD busses have them in the useless LHD position. The driver only gets half the screen cleared.

  6. Strange, but apparently true. Look at the wiper pattern on your bus. Only part of the screen is cleared on the driver’s side. Bloody Germans!

Same on Peugeots. Massive A pillar and missed area right where you cant see the car in front 30 feet away slightly to the right...

  8. I've posted this link up before, but for those at the back who weren't paying attention:D.

If you don't want to watch the test drive of the Splittie (quite entertaining), fast forward to 29m20s for full on Bay wiper geekyness ...

My Aussie bus for some inexplicable reason has the UK spec wipers... and it's definitely from Australia, cos that's where the container ship had come from and it still was wearing its Canberra plates when it came out of the shipping container.
It had at some point had the section under the windscreen replaced...but.no idea how UK spec wipers...unless it was repaired with New Zealand parts....as mentioned in the video posted they too had the non Aussie wipers.

So just for reference of wiper arm location this is my RHD crew cab originally constructed in Germany but shipped to SA as a kit.

    My Ozzy bus.

You can see the gromiits for the LHD wipers I am lead to believe that they hand panel beat in the mountings for the new position.

  12. Now I’ve got wiper envy :(

PS Are the “spare” wiper arm holes bunged up with grommets?

  13. Early mk2 golf's were the same. They corrected it later on together with 1 piece front door glass etc.

My wiper arms are stripped, think I will try vasaline on the splined shaft then JB Weld putty moulded into the arms, snuggle them down by hand then when dry take em off, clean with the grinder then bolt em up!!
    What could go wrong.

  16. Lots ;). Do you mean they’re stripped where they go into the wiper mech?

But not for the Australian market ?

(Apart from what is obviously quite a PITA getting the bits, I am envious of Aussie wipers!)

If the JB weld thing is a flop the options ate heat some Euro ones up with the torch and bend em or cut me old ends off and weld em on the new ones with the TIG
