  2. If you are the kind of guy who finds inspiration in accomplishing goals out of spite to everyone who says you can't, I'll contribute by saying; You'll NEVER make it in 6 weeks!

    Is it UK registered?
I'm guessing it was a write off in the states, does that affect registration here?

  5. All the best of luck mate. Keep it brown I say!

  6. Well done you mate ! big 3 cheers for your "true grit", enthusiasm, and "vision", me and Jack the cat are cheering you on ! I love a rescued bus!(and I think so does Jack the cat)

  7. What can I say.....I like a challenge?? To answer a few questions:
The panel between the chassis rails is indeed covering an Eberspacher heater - getting it working should be fun. The Gas tank will probably have to go, as we are planning to use Eurotunnel..:(
Although it was a write off in the States due to the fire, I'm fairly sure that won't effect registration over here - I have got my "Schatzkrammer der Marke" from VW and apparently that's all I need...hopefully.
She's rock solid ....apart from the engine bay area. After standing for 20 years in the elements with all the paint burnt off not to mention two melted batteries it's taken it's toll on the exposed surfaces. Everywhere else is really good. Should be posting a load more pics on Saturday.....:)

  8. I'll look forward to seeing updates on your bus!!!

Might be worth checking the write off issue as I know over here some write offs cannot be put back on the road?

  10. We worked out how long it had stood by looking at the sell by dates off everything left in the kitchen drawers - Burger King Ketchup expired in 1994 anyone? It was like the previous owner had just thought "sod it" and parked it up... We found kids drawing books, loads of Paracetmol, an old tent, paper plates....oh, and loads of walnut shells.....loads!

  11. I know what you mean Baysearcher, but it's never been an official write off in the States (still on DMV) and it's not been written off here, so it's not an issue, that I'm sure of. Getting a US title for it started to get complicated as they wanted to see it with working lights etc, which wasn't an option...

good luck. Looks like a solid base to make a nice van. Mexico beige would be great or original brown. I've got a CE2 like yours but i painted mine blue.
Why not just get it running as is. Rat look style. Paint it next year.

  18. Eurotunnel are fine for you to carry gas bottles whether fixed or not. The attached is copied from their website. What you cannot do is use an LPG powered vehicle.

By the way lose the poo brown and get a lovely green. Oh and do keep posting pics as we love pics on here.

    Fixed gas container

    • If your vehicle is fitted with a "fixed" gas container the quantity of gas is limited to 47kg (or approximately 93 litres) for a single container and the maximum filling rate is 80% (or approximately 73 litres). In the case of several fixed containers the quantity of gas is limited to 50kg (or approximately 99 litres) on the whole with a maximum filling rate of 80% per container (or approximately 79 litres).

  19. Anything but 'burnt umber' methinks!
Good luck with the restoration... I think you're going to need it to be ready in time for camperjam, but I'm going myself so will keep my fingers crossed that I see you there. I'll be watching your resto thread with interest.

  20. A Big ask for Camperjam, but it appears you are up for the challenge,
good luck and keep the posts coming
