Wing mirror repairs

  1. Hi people....

My wing mirrors are in need of a bit of TLC as they don't stay where they are supposed to.

Is there somewhere I can go for parts? Most the usual places I would look are only selling the whole thing.

    Cheers

  2. mine are the same

I think the repro ones have shorter fixings, so not as good as the original ones with longer fixings.

I think I saw a thread on here showing how to 'adapt' the repro ones

or try and find some genuine ones

  3. If you’re in the market for new ones, the stainless Wolfsburg West ones are fine.

  4. I can use mine as a speedo...go over 60mph and they flap backwards. Unfortunately they don’t return to their original position if I throttle off
First time they did that I wound down the window to push them back...and the handle then fell off

There is a nut you can tighten, then you can use loctite or a washer under the nut to provide more tension if it still slips.

With my pot metal window winders, I sometimes JB weld them on, then loosen the allen bolt a bit and smack it with a hammer when I want to get them off...

  8. You go above 60?!?! Perhaps you have the Type 2.1 variant which was built with an automatic and highly secretive streamline system that cuts in at around 60??

  9. If you don’t mind, that would be awesome!

  10. That's the secret , it's worth buying the old stylee broken ones for parts . The og ones don't have the grey trim - as a rough guide
