Has anyone else experienced a very annoying whistle from their door or wing mirrors. As soon as I get up to 30 mph I get a loud and annoying whistle from both sides. If I crack the window open by a 1cm it goes away. Does anyway know how to fix or seen a wind deflector
I’ve put up with my passenger door doing that for 16 years. Even cracking the window doesn’t work any more!
You could try masking tape at different points to see exactly where it’s happening. Could be the felt strip or possibly the plastic water barrier sheet behind the inner door panel
Only noticing wind noise in a T2 is a good sign, enjoy it whilst it's the only thing you can hear....
Oh I wish my only worry was the whistle. But Ive chosen to ignore the oil leak and electrical issues for now and try and fix something easy haha. I know it isn't the roof bars it only started to do it after I replaced the wing mirrors
When you replaced the wing mirrors did you put the little round plastic gasket spacer back in place? I think t2's have these like Beetles - it sits between the mirror and the door panel? You may be getting air in there which equalises when you crack the window open.
I used a rubber washer instead. But I am pleased to hear that it is a common issue we can all suffer together
The sliding vents in the door cards go someway to sorting this issue out. If you have them, try experimenting with various stages of opening. Even then, we still get the occasional whistle. It's quite endearing...
I had the window whistle for years, unless I dropped the window an inch. Fine until I took it to the Alps in winter and I froze or put up with the noise. Eventually someone 'bent' the door frame a bit and that seems to have solved the problem.
I think that might help where I have thick door seals the door doesn't sit flush and I think it's either that or the wing mirror. I think I might slot a bit of cardboard on the door frame and test out might be a simple fix
Two fixes for this, I've done both successfully. 1, turn up the radio. 2, remove your engine and leave the bus in the garage. (this one does produce a whining noise along the lines of "when are you going to fix that Bus so we can use it"?
Haha sadly when I turn the radio up to high it keeps cutting out There must be a weird air channel in the door. I put the window down a tiny bill and bent the top corner in a little and it changed the pitch of the whistle
With a bit of practice on the sliding vent, you should be able to get it to whistle in tune to a song of your choice, which is nice.
I had a whistling noise coming from my passenger door it drove me mad I took the door card off and a canary flew out
