I rang our fave local farm camp site and they said they may be able to open, if the govt allow, from July 4th. They will have a reduced amount of campers allowed and may not open facilities. They also said they would be asking locals on their opinion. I asked about having own facilities but they weren’t sure, as ive heard that sites may be restricted to folks with toilet/ washing facilities. I’ve got a camping toilet and could get a big water container for hand washing. this is what caravan club have said so far. https://www.campingandcaravanningcl...pAgUrk8Iz2MfWMfmAcDA5hOli8KWqMQFeBdt-IfxeeWFs
We are Camping and Caravan club members too - hoping that we can get at least a week away in Lake district by September
We too have been told that they are opening on the 4th, on the Isle of Wight. We have had a trip booked since last year. We have no interior, or bed and the roof canvas is still loose at the bottom......no pressure then
Camping yes, having a camping holiday...not really. Until we can go somewhere, visit the local attractions, have a cuppa in a cafe and a drink in a pub, then its just sleeping in a field. Plus, using a plastic bucket and not having a morning shower is not my idea of fun ! I've sites booked for end of July, hopefully things on sites will be a little more civilised.
I hope to get some camping in one way or another this year. Denmark, Sweden & Oslo trip which was already booked is off. Hopefully get a refund and may get opportunity to do it next year?
Feral Farm has said they're aiming to be open from July 4th, but its likely they won't be allowed to open toilet blocks etc. I went out and bought a porta-bog and utility tent yesterday, as I'd be well p*ssed off if sites open, but I can't use them due to not being self contained.
The rush to staycation is on! Out of curiosity, I have been tracking the number of California's for sale on Autotrader, it is dropping daily.
( Camping and Caravan club ) isn't that just dogging with a paid membership. I've booked for early august, but im not to keen on the select few ******* up holidaymakers deciding its a good idea to go camping. but maybey i am miserable and like a peaceful campsite
not had good experiences with camping and caravan sites, went to one which was utter silence at 8pm, the owner was roaming the field like the gestapo.
There are campsite wardens like that , although we have never come across one - but a friend of our is in the Caravan Club and at one site, the warden walked past and spoke to him in a stern voice to pick up some litter that was across from his site - he refused and the warden got shirty with him .
I won't be camping until all the kids are back at school and the showers/ bogs/ pubs/ cafes are open again. If it isn't this year I can live with that, if it is that would be a bonus.
I'm sure they employ ex-traffic wardens to police the parking. If you're not within a nanometer of the prescribed parameters, you're in trouble. The fun really starts when your caravan, like mine, has the door on the "wrong" side!
