Why do you hate caravans?

Caravans, campers, motorhomes, and trailers.
In the states we either have one, want one, or we don't. Some of us are just not "camper people". Some prefer hotels while others like to have their own space and all of their things with them wherever they go. And that is all. It's that simple.
Having been a member of TLB for about a year now, I find it very curious the way caravans and motorhomes can stir up such strong emotions in people across the pond. Many of you absolutely hate them with a vengeance. Wouldn't be caught dead in one. Would rather put a cigar out in your arse then set foot in one. I bet they give some of you night terrors. Some of you are even rather snobbish about it, looking down your noses at people who have one. As if only a common peasant would own one.
What is the root of this U.K. camper-phobia? Do they have some sort of stigma over there? Are you afraid the neighbors will think you're descended from Gypsies or something?
What gives?! It's just a camper. A luxury, actually.
And don't simply say they're ugly. That alone could not possibly get any sane person worked into such a frenzy.

 

i have a eriba puck and am always correcting people who call it a caravan 'it's not a caravan it's a puck' i do not want to be known as a caravanner and never want to wear brown cords.

i have told the mrs that if we start thinking about getting a proper caravan because they are more practical it wil be time for the suicide pact

 

My problem is I own a trailer tent which is cool ok but the wife wants the heating and other things so that leads onto a caravan . I use to really hate ten but slowly coming round to it , I'd be happy with the bus and trailer tent but I've found my self looking at cars that can tow a caravan .

 

And I'm unsure as to why I hate them so much problem because most old people have them lol and I'm not old yet

 

Maybe it's born from the fact many of our roads are smaller, windier and as a result when you get stuck behind one you are screwed! lol

I dont hate em, but they have to be old.

Nothing worse when trading at shows than setting all the stock out then putting a tent up and taking it all down in two days.

 

I don't "hate" caravans, I dislike most of the people who move about in them.
I do agree with Nick, if you must have a caravan at least have a vintage van ( goes off to peruse Evilbay for vintage caravans).

 

It's the tassels on the cushions puts me off
