I've just bought MGF seats for our Bay too - Mulberry leather from the 75th anniversary edition. Just wondering how you went on fitting yours? I'm assuming that I need to grind off the bits that fix to the floor/transmission tunnel and put some bolts up from underneath into the rail. Is that what you're planning? Hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm pretty inept mechanically, and all tips will be gratefully received...
I had Saab seats in when I bought the van but they were too high, I bought some originals from eBay and my old dad covered them for me
I have fitted MGF seats to mine - they are brilliant - see photos. Yes an angle grinder was needed to cut off one of the rear ones ( but it is fairly easy and took me about an hour to fit each one ) - but I kept the other brackets and just bent them down a bit so that the seat sat flat - I then fitted a bolt and a couple of nuts into the space left by the cut off one - the extra nut brought the seat level - note that I cut a slot rather than leave a hole to make the fitting of the bolt dead simple - just case then of drilling holes for it in the wheel tub. One on each seat fitted into the original runner so bolt stays dry - the others I run up from underneath so that the nut is inside a corrosion free.
That's brilliant. Thanks for the advice and the pics! I'll probably still make a hash of it, but it's good to know I'll start out on the right track. Cheers!
