  1. He said "Monroe MA", make any sense?

That’s generic for Monroe Air I think, there’s a 3-digit suffix which relates to maybe eyelet size and length I believe.

  3. The man, he says MA785, his Bus is really quite low....also apparently Kleft and Klock also do a kit with a different part number, tho that could be for Split.

His advice is measure up the length you need, then purchase accordingly.

I think he had to modify the shock's bushes himself as the lengths on offer didn't have the correct bush sizes for a VW.

MA803 are the nearest for standard height or lowered on dropped spindles, MA785 would be okay if lowered on adjusters but the mountings need to be modified.

    From the Monroe catalogue.

    Extended Length: 16.250"

    Upper Mounting: 12MM Sleeve ID X 39.69MM

    MA803

    Extended Length: 16.125"
    Travel Length: 5.625"

  5. My mate used 785, he is lowered on adjusters, as you say @77 Westy, he reports having to modify the mounts.

  6. Hi guys, I have been following this thread as I was concerned over my load rating on my tyres.
I’m running 15in Fuchs with 185/65 / 88T on the rear and 175/ 65 / 74T on the front= spongy ride not a lot of fun in the wind.
So like a few of us I’m been looking for XL or R tyres which don’t rub. Mine doesn’t rub which is fortunate.
So I found these and fitted them at the weekend and feel a lot happier about the load rating and the ride.
    For the rear - Uniroyal Rain Max 195/70 R15 T (97), Reinforced
    - Fuel:C, Wet:C, Noise:2-71dB
    For the front - Uniroyal RainExpert 3 185/65 R15 T (92), Reinforced
    - Fuel:C, Wet:A, Noise:2-71dB
    No rubbing seem real quite.
Next new front shocks, koni’s do you think?

Dangerous, it's fortunate you changed them before a disastrous accident.
R simply means radial, nothing to do with load rating.
Load rating is okay, strange that a tyre called ‘Rain Max’ has poor wet performance.
Load rating is okay, smaller dia than standard so the speedo will read high. Apparently ‘Rain Expert’ is better in the wet than ‘Rain Max’.
I prefer Gaz dampers, they’re easier to adjust than Koni and I could be wrong but I think Koni are single acting.

  8. Went out for a blast this afternoon and the difference is amazing. Cheers for the feedback chap, not sure if I’m going to change the shocks yet, may see how she handles when loaded with the awning, kids and the wife . See if it rubs then

I'm interested in your fuchs/tyre combo.

As I thought the biggest i could fit on mine, without them touching the rear arch, were 185/65 R15.

Are your fuchs genuine ones with adapter plates or newer repro ones with correct bolt pattern to fit straight on without adapters?

  11. Hey chap, they are repos so no adapter. Still have a nice gap either side of the arch.

  12. Ok thanks v much.

The adapters push mine out 25mm so i can't get quite as wide tyres on the rear as you have.

    Thanks anyway

  13. No worries chap
