I could but I’ll be fitting a bigger type 4 instead but I enjoy reading about those that are fitting or have fitted a Scooby engine. There is a whole new topic to discuss instead of which oil its which anti-freeze - there are just as many peeps who don’t understand anti-freeze as there are don’t know oil. :D

If aircooled engines were really any good someone would still be making cars with them in , in large numbers.
It's pretty much nostalgia, the water cooled boxer engine is the logical progression.
These busses are not rare vehicles, do what pleases you with them and enjoy

  11. my name is also Barry ;)

  12. Its just a little 1600 vege recon
With a little small tiny 34 pict 3 carb
If I'm lucky I can go 60 Miles an hour
And it takes roughly 4 and a half hours
    To get to Cornwall
Pretty much the same as it's always taken over the last 20 years or so
Now where is it you want to get to
    With the super Subaru engine?
    Will you get there faster
    Faster faster faster

What is so wrong with the little Air Cooley
Or have you forgotten what it's all about
I suggest you never knew in the first place
You want to look 70s cool at 21st century speed
What would you clowns of done without
    The Subaru engine ?

I await a 4 page essay from moony
    By first thing tomorrow morning
    Bored now night night

Pink antifreeze goes in my Scooby, which is staying in my Scooby.
I'm all for a watercooled flat four but my type 4 is fine and my Scooby needs an engine.
Besides I don't want 265bhp in that bus, it'd be lethal! Not can I afford a transplant. When - sorry, if - the type 4 blows up I might think about one, but def without a turbo!

    T2 once:)

  18. If your gonna give it mate then take it too. I thought you were being amusing but labouring the point. Im air cooled and have been for 30+ years but im still interested in conversions and what people do. I might consider a scooby and power steering at some point. Never say never eh!

  19. No im Barry and so is my wife :)
