What you listening to right now?

It's really great.
So far we've had 'Dark Side of the Moon' in Dolby atmos (which is getting a re-run in a couple of weeks time ), Queen 'A Night at the Opera' , Fleetwood Mac 'Rumours', Mike Oldfield 'Tubular Bells', The Beatles 'Abbey Road', The Moody Blues 'Days of Future Past' (all in either Atmos or 5.1 Surround), plus a few others I've probably forgotten. It's just nice to sit in the dark and not be distracted by anything, and then have a chat about it over a beer afterwards.

 

I think it originated as an 'open to members & volunteers' - but on the whole, people aren't that interested, so we get to bring friends along. The cinema only has 30 seats, so it's quite cosy!
It started off before lockdown, as the manager of the cinema had bought a limited edition disc of Abbey Road, which had been remixed into Dolby Atmos by the original producer's son Giles Martin; we all had such a good time that he said he would get hold of Dark Side of the Moon in Dolby Surround. Then of course COVID happened and it all got forgotten about for 2 years.
If we've got albums that we think would lend themselves to a listening party, we generally email Barry and he tries to track down Surround, Atmos, Quad etc versions. If all else fails, we just listen in Stereo.
