It was that era of depression : Joy Division, smiths, Gary Numan etc A few good tunes but not a whole album sort of listening.
Agreed - some did it better than others though, Depeche? No! I concede I'm on a limb here and plenty like them though I don't get it. Even the cure were depressing on the surface but at least with them you could see it was tongue in cheek humour. Think about them the right way and you can laugh along (IMO)
