What wheels have I got?

  1. Not long had my van and I was wondering what wheels are they I have on it? ???
The guy I bought it off described them as "hot rod/drag wheels". Not much help there.
I know some of you guys know many things about many things and somebody may know what they are. And if they worth anything.
(the van wheels, not the scirocco's)

  2. Centerlines.

Around £150 to 200 Second hand with fair tyres. Keep them they look good on your bus.

  3. So they are.

I got told by a bloke they were Keystone Vortex's and I couldn't find them anywhere.
Not much Centerlines in this country either, found loads on American eBay.

    Cheers!

  4. I had these on a beetle a couple of years ago. They are speedlines (Centerlines with holes) :)

I got £200 for them when I put them on ebay.

Im pretty sure MWS and SSP still do repro's

Centerlines were really popular on Cal look VW's in the 90's you dont see them so much anymore only Volksrods and the odd buggy

I like them its good to see something a little different on a bay :)

  5. yes, they are centrelines and not really suitable if you've got discs up front. If they're not kerbed then you should be looking for around £50 each + if the tyres are any good
    :)

  7. exactly, and they do get hot regardless of how you drive, but much worse on hills.

It won't really cause any damage as such but you're liable to boil the brake fluid, which is bad.

Also your brake wear will increase dramatically and you'll suffer brake fade over a long distance drive - particularly on down hill runs. The feeling is similar to when your brakes are nearly totally worn out, you press the pedal and you need a lot more pressure for the same affect.

Not an issue with drum brakes so the rears will be fine
    :)

  9. that's the difference Ned. Solid wheels aren't suitable for discs unless there is some method of secondary ducting to provide the correct level of cooling
    :)

  10. i love center lines
after seeing these on your bus it made me start to look at finding some for mine
i had some on my favourite car iv owned (apart from the van) a 1984 ford falcon xe s pack
4.1 litre. i seriously loved that car it was in mint condition and never let me down.
never had a problem with the disc brakes on the front.
