    Hi there,

I'm fitting a late bay interior in my early and wanted to know what thickness the foams suppose to be?

I haven't got the rear cushion to measure but the seat base and back looks to be about 4" and the rear cushion about 2.5"???

Ideally I'd have the foam thicker but I don't think its possible cos the seat back won't fit over the thicker base?

Can anyone tell me what size it should all be.
    And any good suppliers please?

I'll have to modify the back cushion cos the fuel filler on an early is in a different place :-(

    Cheers
    Rob

  2. My engine deck foam is 2.5 without the cover. The seat looks like 4 if take away the board.

Do you need the roof bed measurements?

Lots of foam discussions on here - check the "how to" and search.

    Thanks.
Yeah was hoping I could use 4" for RnR bed and 3" for rear cushion ?
I'm ok for roof bed ta :)

  4. No you can't as the hinges won't allow it to go into seat mode with 4" foam. You need to use continental hinges if you want thicker foam.

@theBusmonkey used 4" foam for his with continental hinges

as @pkrboo said - if you go any thicker you will find that the bed won't work well as a seat ie the thickness will mean that the seat back will conflict with the seat base. We have the original foam in the back over the engine and this sits at the right height with that when its in "bed" mode.

Bed looks like this once covered:

This is with standard late westy hinges btw - orignially a 3/4 width bed, now all the way across.

@rob.e Thanks for that. So 3" it is for the seat base and back but what about the rear cushion? What thickness foam do I need for that?
Also what grade of foam did you use? Comfortable?

I like the full width set up, looks good :)

  7. I used any foam.co.uk and got the firm blue stuff. Rear cushion is approx 2.5" thick

  8. I also used the firm blue stuff but 3" all over.
