  3. Dunno, but it feels like a plank of wood, agony, get a air matress. :'(

  4. One got 4" reflex foam from Delilah on the forum here.

I used to work in the foam business and can say that unless you are a 4 stone waif then anything less than 4" thickness and preferably a good grade of foam will find you grumbling in the morning.

(I'm aware the above could easily be used as a basis for a rude joke or comment)

  10. Just measured it, 3 inches, Mrs W would like a fatter one...............Ohhhhhhhh matron. I've told her its all down to how you position yourself on it. :p

  11. we have 3 inches at the moment and it's fine as a bed but your bum sinks through it as a seat

i see bluebird sell 3 inch, i thought about grading to 4 inch but my trimmer recommended 5, although i'm not sure 5 will fit

  12. Think 5 would be overkill as you'd have massive seats, not sure how they would fit together when in a seated position and still be right when layer down, but if your guy does it for a living then he must know some stuff!

  13. i couldn't see how 5 was going to work, that's why i thought i would ask on here

  14. I am thinking of re-trimming Marge with memory foam, anyone on here used it, is it as fantastic as I keep hearing or is it just snake oil?

If we were going to upgrade I think we would adhere a 1" stiffer foam to the bottom of our existing 3".

  18. <puts foam cap on>

The trick would be to have a good 3" 40h density foam on the bottom, (the h stands for hard), and then a 1" memory foam or softer 32h foam on top.

That way you get the strength and support of the 40 grade so you don't sit 'through' the foam and bony hips and elbows are supported laying down and the memory or 32 grade gives you a nice bit of comfort and give on the top to snuggle into.

Same rules actually go for sofas.

Blimey, not work in that industry for 6 years but it's amazing how much you remember.

  19. i have spent £400 on foam this month ... on foam! ouch!

I once worked in the foam industry, it wasn't a great success but I bounced back.

I thank you, I'm here all week.
