I'm 36. Hit a wall last year when i suddenly realised that my body is 36 and not 26 like my brain likes to think. I played footy for a while last season and just couldn't keep up. 8 a side games in midweek i seemed to manage and i always felt good but then come Sunday and try to play 90 mins. It was pure hell and i couldn't keep up. I ended up pulling my groin, hamstring and calf during that period but silly me used to rush back as i new the clock was against me. I have now conceded that my sporting days are over. Time to pass the baton down to my boys.
Can we have a mini rave please Squire Para sir, m'lord? I'm 52 and to read you youngsters bleating about aches and pains makes me laugh. I expect it's just young family sleep deprivation - I never got over that.
bolton eh lad, mine neck ot woods that, well few miles grew up in whitefield used to go to the big bolton swimming baths when a were a lad and cycling over the jumbles . i dont feel so old and decrepid now reading this thread, though to pick my 4 year old up when im kneeling down is geting hard or maybe its just him getting heavier will have to weigh him in the morning. a pal of mine teaches wood craft etc call forest knights, is 4 to young to start an adventure in the outdoors?
Lived just down the road from the jumbles till 21,our school run was round it. 4 is fine for outdoor adventures, at their own speed though.
What takes effort as you get older? Nothing. I'm just as good at 42, if not better, than I was at 22.
