What seats have you got?

  1. not much leg room in the back

  2. I think these seats are what I've had in my van for 17+ yrs? I got them recovered, but I think I preferred them before in the lush velor.

yeah my ones were in a blue lush velour very comfy and looked really nice in my old Bay.

  4. What was required to make them fit? (my Bus is elsewhere at mo so i cannot check)
Just acquired MGF seats and need to get them in before my European excursion in 3 weeks time

I have used bits of sofa z springs , coathanger wire and welding to repair my original seats. About £10.
And then found a set of covers which came from the UK and were £140 a pair on eBay.

  6. An angle grinder to get the original MGF fitting brackets off, a drill to drill the new mounting holes and to enlarge the holes in the MGF runners. 8 x 8mm x 40 allen bolts. 8 x 8mm nuts and 8 x 8mm nyloc nuts 8 x 8mm washers.

    Remove the original seats.
Grind off MGT brackets and front runner stops
Drill enlargement holes in MGF runners
Push allen bolts into the new holes (may need a bit of persuasion
Lock allen bolts in place with standard bolts (tehy act like spacers and let you tighten the bottom nuts later when you cant get at the allen bolts)
Put seats in place and mark new mounting hole positions (there is one VW bracket that needs removing, I cant remember which)
Drill new mounting holes in van (paint)
Put seats in place and fit washers and nyloc nuts
    Drive off into the sunset
It's really that simple, took me a couple of hours to do the lot. I've got a scan of the magazine article if you want it, just pm me your email address but the instructions above are probably clearer :)

  11. Nice :)
What do you think of them?

  12. Very comfortable, will be tested next week when i travel to europe.
Passenger seat could be 2" lower if the swivel plate was removed, but we like the versatility of the stop and have a cup of tea facing the passengers
Pleased with the job, seats 1/2 leather, got for £49.00 and picked up myself. Will recover in future when all other panels upgraded (and Bus repainted Yellow)

I think the bolsters will be a pain getting in and over all the time - that's what I found with the Recaro buckets on my van.

  18. ^this, I'm afraid.
