I think it all went pear shaped when they started letting anyone in even if the country wasn't up to it Greace,Poland springs to mind, how much money is being pumped into them to bring them up to standard

  3. Why do we pay child benefit for children who don't live in this country?

That's a drop in the ocean compared to the child benefit we pay to give people a viable income that their employers should be doing and paying their taxes.

    Smokescreen.

Chairman of Sainsburys said it all yesterday...they pay the 7th largest corporation tax yet are britains 75th largest company.

Big corporations I sense want to use the UK as a tax heaven, the problem is the 'potential exploitable markets' of Eastern Europe simply don't have the money to spend so now it's limbo land.

We need info on what 'out' looks like economically? Our industry now mainly shifts theoretical money, wipes bums and talks about it...none of which are robust....

  6. If all companies did this then who exactly is going to pay to keep the country running. It is you and I through mahoosive rises in VAT. Look at the interests of the tories and then make some sense of it. AS for Europe. Im divided. It seems undemocratic, unable to deal with issues in a "common" way, has let in countries who have a large pool of cheap labour but no jobs for them resulting in a race to the bottom for all and wants to make treaties with the USA expanding US influence directly upon our markets.

On the other hand it has also resulted in a a watering down of the power of UK govt which is a double edged sword and provided a stable external market for our economy and opportunities which unfortunately some of our euro-denier business people and politicians fail to recognise. The big issue for me is the interpretation of EU regulation by UK that results in the Germans and French supporting their own infrastructure projects at home whilst our capitalist masters sell ours to the cheapest bidder regardless of consequence and blame the EU.

Remember the largest train operator in the UK is a nationalised company... it just isn't British!

    It isn’t, nor France.:(
    https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment/eligibility
    3. Eligibility

You’ll qualify for Winter Fuel Payment if:
    - You were born on or before 5 January 1953 (for winter 2015 to 2016 - this date changes every year)
    - You’ll be living in the UK throughout the week of 21 to 27 September 2015

You may be able to get the payment if you live in Switzerland or a European Economic Area (EEA) country and you have a genuine link with the UK.

You can’t get the payment if you live in Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Malta, Portugal or Spain because the average winter temperature is higher than the warmest region of the UK.

  9. I think one of the biggest issues has been highlighted during Cameron's renegotiations of our position. Even these concessions he has supposedly gained still require majority support from the other nations. I can sort of live with our own idiots setting our rules, democratically even if we don't like what they do we have been involved in the process to vote them in, but someone totally unaccountable to us is a different matter.

On the economic position outside I'm willing to take a gamble, everyone (Euro sceptics) wants to tell us how bad it is but no one can tell you for certain.

people have been quoting the solution all be it in aroundabout way
pensioners from the uk living in spain live on uk pensions
ok any immigrant who wants to claim dole claims it off and is paid by their home country
of course it would work for anyone anyware in the EU so no carping about the uk getting better treatment

  11. How about anyone that pays in can take out (proportionately) regardless of their home country. that would of course mean that our own doley dossing scrounging scumbags (as opposed to the unemployed) can do the low paid jobs were currently importing foreign labour to do!

As opposed to living off benefits, purchasing their council house under right to buy, using the profit to buy property in Spain and then living there and still being on benefits. That's while honest unemployed folk are out there searching for work and are looking at the prospect of zero hours contracts or casual work with no hope of a decent pension or owning their own property, never mind living the dream in a nice warm climate.

    Am I ranting!
