what have you done to your bay today ?.

Currently freezin my ass off welding the flloor tryin to also dodge snow flurries at the same time.

Just popped in for a cuppa n a 5 min thawing session!

 

Fitted the tailgate window and received my cab roof lining and vinyl to cover the pop top

 

I swept some snow off the cover that's on it at the moment - when the thaw arrives (at the weekend, I hope) then I can get the cover off quicker and let it dry out.

 

Well iam finished weldin and fricking frozen worth it though

 

Finally got round to puttin new batteries in , cleaned up all the connections , earth strap etc drop of vaseline on terms , stuck um in bolted up, checked wiring , checked oil , fired up first turn took him for a bleach up the motorway for about 40 miles with head lights on , all seems to be charging ok :crossed. Nice n dry no wet salt , just tucked it back up, cheered me up a bit as stuff been bit marmite lately , was nice to go for a run , wish i could have gone to winter camp now , but family stuff tamora .

 

Sorted out Ins.> £100 4 one year !< that "just campers" are soooooo coolio! (but then i would say that ) i knew if i hung around long enough i would find an advantage(?) re being this old !

 

Spoke with a vw specialist to see if he would give the bus a once over and let me know what needed doing and in which priority order. Even better, he said get your overalls on and we can do it together for 2/3 hours. Will basically be a full service but without the new parts but more importantly will be an introductory course to vw bus mechanics with a prioritised snag list at the end of it !
Not sure if he normally does this as I also told him I would be doing a lot of work myself after I knew what needed doing. He said 'that's ok, I'll just help you out when you get stuck". Top bloke, can't wait now !

 

Piped in the gas boiled my first kettle of water in the old girl and fitted another seatbelt in the back

 

He's based in Basildon. Did you want something doing, or just curious ? I know you usually use Bugmad ? How is it that bus coming on ?

 

MOre welding to the chassie : then made a start on the front heater pipe, so rotten not worth fixing,
so am now making a new one.

 

Drove it for 3hrs back from wintercamp, clutch felt a bit dodgy when I pulled onto my drive.

 

Nothing but my 4 new wheel tubs arrived!!!! On we go!
