  1. Space between the seats? Mines completely empty and its such a waste.

I have seen a pic with a fridge installed which looks like its original. I have also seen one with sub woofer.

What have you used yours for?

    Any pics would be good!

  2. mines empty...its very tiny between my seats...due to the mods its had i think...i dont know just know its not big enough for much at all......

however its a perfect space for charlie-pie to fit....so he tends to sit there during journeys :) x

  3. ive been pondering this one for a while, my bus came with some home-made box, no top or cupholders or anything.. just a wooden box screwed in. not sure why.

im a long way off this but ive been thinking of making some sort of centre console housing cupholders, ipod dock, storage and a speaker or two. I want to keep it retro though, not a chavvy addition which may be tricky. :/ will be interesting to see what others have done.

  4. cup holders seem the most useful option i think
... i use my walkthrough so it would be interesting to know if people have something which is removable or attached? x

  5. I'd be interested in seeing the one with a fridge fitted between the front seats, as i'm planning on doing the same thing. It's not a walkthrough though.

Just bought this compressor fridge, but its ugly, so i'll make a new box for it, and fit it there, might even keep the cup holders.

  10. Thought you'd like that Steve ;)

  11. My seats will stop swiveling on the late late bay ,seat cover that space on the pickup ,but it is a good idea to have storage and cup holders ...Was`nt there a westy table you could buy?

  12. We have the buddy box I believe it's called that, quite handy as you can put all your sweets and goodies in there for snacking on as you journey,

We do actually use it to access the front when we are camping - we don't have a lot of storage space in the back of the van so the front seats turn into walk-in wardrobes, but I do like the idea of having some kind of storage in the gap that is removable. I have an old Fortnum and Mason hamper and might try to find some way of anchoring that. Then we have storage when we are out and about, and could put it in the awning when we are set up :)

We use it to scramble from the front to the rear or from the rear to the front depending on our mood, I think that's what VW designed it for :p

When you come to actually try and use this space, it shrinks! I was advised to make a 1 cu ft speaker box and only just managed to squeeze it in there.

  17. I'm in the Paul Weeding camp. It's called a walk through for a good reason, so we walk through it! It would be a pain to climb over a fridge, but whatever turns you on. Its a personal thing I guess but we've found it useful if we stop when it's persisting down (like most of last summer) and can get the old kettle on without getting out of the van. ( note to editor: I don't call it a "bus" cos it's not full of seats. We call it a van cos its a camperVAN.)

  18. If you have a walkthrough bus, i don't see much point in putting anything between the seats, it's a great commodity to be able to walk from the drivers seat to the living area without going out and exposing yourself to the weather or mud, but it comes at a high price regarding storage space. This is why i have decided, after long consideration, not to cut that wall and keep it non-walkthrough, what is quite useless in this type of bus is the passenger bench seat. it looks cool, but you'd soon realize you can't really fit two people there for very long, you keep hitting your next passenger in the knees with the gearstick, and unless these are kids, they'd be crammed.

However a non walkthrough with two single seats would provide some great space between the seats for all kinds of things... I'm thinking a removable box which would house a fridge and would double as a table, it could have cup holders cut into it, and you'd still be left with a lot of less accessible room underneath for either your spare tire (what that space was meant for) and / or tools and spares that you don't need very often or the heater. Not having a passage there would also allow you to extend the rear furniture along the entire width of the bus, adding quite a bit of potential space.

  19. I like to keep my victims tied up and wedge in this space. It keeps them under control and I can keep an eye on them, while driving to a remote area. :)

Mine is home to the spare wheel/armrest and walk through. I like being able to go from front to back.
