I’m just testing the water, with the market being so volatile at the moment, you can pay 12k for a rust bucket or 3ok for something overpriced sold as a “nut and bolt resto” what is the going rate at the moment? I appreciate its “what someone’s prepared to pay” but it’s hard to find a happy medium when pricing my bus. there’s literally been no stone un turned with her and I would consider it as a genuine nut and bolt resto. Seen here in the resto thread https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/doogles-resto.48025/page-17 She’s ready to go and immaculate. Can successful sellers or experts advise please? Nothing sarcastic… More photos to come
Not looked through your build thread . looks quite nice, Sill looks messy and you forgot a few bolts (bumper)
I might not be everyone, but the first thing I look for is how flush the doors shut, when I see 3 pics of the slider open and none shut + one of the rear with the engine hatch open I wonder what they're hiding. Must be all those years restoring vans. Agreed. Sadly whoever did the def panel only fitted one captive nut each side. No doubt new bumper and the bracket holes didn't line up at the back - been there! That's when I learned to dry fit stuff before painting it. It's got nice paint, nice interior, it's very clean looking, but it's not A1, the cill opp sliding door isn't straight, panels a bit wobbly and it's... a converted panel van with an icky little engine. Might be an idea to fit the poptop seal properly too. For all that, it looks very nice to me, I'm a fuss pot.
Hard to price these vans isn't it? I see what people ask, but ebay sold items is the only place I know of to get actual info.
Points taken, these are all photos I’ve had in my phone for god knows how long. She’s in storage under a cover atm. only point is argue is the def panel does have all the captives. I just haven’t out all the bolts in!!! but yes very hard to price when there’s lots of rusty kack out there and lots of overpriced fluff ups too. I just want to be honest with my pricing. But not undersell much efforts.
Yep, that's the tricky bit! Hard also for a buyer to judge the value so when all's said and done if it's within someone's budget and they want it the exact price is almost irrelevant. Shiny paint, nice interior sells IMO so you got that right!
I like the colour! It looks v nice to me but I’m not a van expert like the others. Tbh I can never understand why one van which looks identical to another but are different prices.
Swings and roundabouts? ... Ours went for £20k around 18 months ago. No pop up, no nice woody interior, (just a full width r&r) and a left hooker (opinions vary on that of course) but absolutely no room for doubt on the bodywork, and not a panel van originally so, depending on what people are looking for in a van, I'd say you could ask 19/20 and be happy with 17/18 ..... Just one opinion mind
It's a beautiful van to behold but it doesn't have a Devon interior nor do you seem to have any appliances. I think 20K would be a push but certainly worth an ask.
Yep, depends on what the customer wants. Dub and Dubbers would appeal to a pure classic car enthusiast, yours would appeal to someone who wasn't so fussy about originality or simply didn't know (or care about) the ins and outs of the marque. When the T2 owners club were valuing them they'd have valued Dub and Dubbers far higher, but their points based "originality" valuations have gone out of the window, it might be why they stopped doing them.
