Westie Seat Cushions

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by sharpey, Mar 5, 2013.

  1. Has anyone replaced their Westie board mounted seat/back cushions with 'loose' cushions maybe velcro'd to the boards.

The ply boards are about an inch thick and so going to be expensive to send for re-trimming and then pay to be returned.

Just an idea I had, as other conversions have loose cushions. :)

the covers are so incredibly simple to make and staple, why would you post them, there must be a trimmer near you.

  3. I was wanting buttoned cushions and knee rolled front edge, so was thinking a professional trimmer.

  4. Making them seperate from the ply boards is a good idea
You can use them to lay on outside the bus to have a kip in the sun and you can add a zip so you can wash the covers from time to time

Im doing this with my bus and im either going to use presstuds or straps to keep them in place

  5. Oh and it allows you to store the cushions indoors if you lay your bus up for the winter
This saves them from mould or the mice eating them

But they're MUCH better stapled on. :)

  7. prefer mine stapled for comfort and safety but I do miss being able to remove the cushions, put the bed flat and use the whole thing as a load carrier. Great for timber!

  8. Some great pros and cons to consider, thanks guys.

  9. What about stapling half of a long zip to the board, with the mating half sewn into the cover. Any 'pull' on the cushion would then be even along the length of the cushion/zip in the same way as if it was stapled. I hadn't really thought about this until your thread and I will be replacing my own cushions soon. Being able to clean/remove quickly and easily has to be an improvement over 'stock' in this case.
