Something’s will always stick in my mind, My older brother served as soldier in the army, Back in the bad times in Northern Ireland as did a lot of the lads at that time, I remember once when he came home on leave and just wanting to have some peaceful rest , My little younger brother awoke him with a toy plastic machine gun, He woke up suddenly didn’t know where he was he grabbed our younger brother around the throat and up against the wall until he realized where he was, I think a lot of lads at that time may of suffered some sort of PTSD… but it wasn’t recognized until later.
I agree. My dear old grandad was ‘bomb crazy’, after serving in many places around the world in the war. In the end, he and my gran came to live with us down the farm, in the late ‘70’s. A vey humble man and a true gent, but he always held a dark secrets of what he had witnessed through his career. I think a lot of the old guys and girls still do, the ones that are alive. I have great respect for the old older generation. But when people my age and slightly older just can’t take a bit of banter, it makes my blood boil a bit, if I’m honest, after what these old people did for us and our country. The country that we are living in, with so much freedom, if you know what I mean…
No, I was given special dispensation, I think it’s because Johnny Foreigner was often shot on sight by everyone, as they thought he was a spy….when all he actually was was a big fan of 80’s soft rock and Jonny Boston was taken.
