Wee bit wet in Cumbria at the moment.

    How do you get a mortgage without house insurance, previously flooded areas aren't usually insurable?
    If people didn't buy them developers wouldn't build them.

  3. Yep. There was a coal mine in Flimby just south of Maryport but the whole area is riddled with mine workings and nearly every pub is named The Miners Arms.:p

    We purchased a house in Grantham on mortgage which no one would insure due to backing onto river, we wen back to bank a told them if they are willing to lend for purchase they must be willing to insure and they did.

    It's not surprising though with the amount of rain that's fallen of late
    The river levels haven't dropped much and the ground is that sodden it can't soak up anymore

  8. I've just got back from picking Mrs para up from work
    Crossed a bridge on the way there np dry as a bone
    20 mins later its impassable with cars broken down in the water

  15. More bad weather forecast over Christmas and new year. Some of the people literally just got their homes dry again after running heaters and dehumidifiers for the past 2 weeks and now they are back to square one again. :(
